This chapter starts by Lehi talking to Jacob. He says e is his first norm in the wilderness and The Lord knows this and makes sure to let Jacob know that he was remembered and he was blessed

I love how this land was totally set aside for Lehi and Nephi and their families to come to be free!!!!

There is so much in ch 22 of 1 nep. Nephi is explaining to his brothers what Isaiah was saying in his scriptures. I love the end though where Nephi testifies that the words are true and that he and their father are not the only ones who think they are true. Almost telling them...look we are not the one crazy ones out there. There are so many more!  Hope that they would believe him and start to believe themselves. 

My God shall be my strength!  I love any scripture that says anything about Gid being my strength!  It is thru him and only Him that anything in my life takes place!  I know all things come from Him!!!

"There is no peace for the wicked!"  AMEN!

I am so thankful Nephi listened to The Lord. We now have the Book of Mormon!!! Nephi had no idea why he was writing it, The Lord jut told him to record the things about his people so he did!!  Thank you!

1 Nephi 18

I find it very interesting that when Lamen and Lemuel saw that THEIR lives were in danger, they let Nephi go. It was ultimately the power of God that saved them. Lucky for them, The Lord has bigger plans and He wasn't going to let everyone perish because of their actions. They made it to the promised land and right away started planting and building. I just wonder wht that would have been like,. To go to a brand new land?!  And start anew!!!

Lamen and Lemuel?!  I know I already posted about this, but my goodness why and how can they turn so fast!  They almost cost everyone their lives. Luckily, they did not. We just have to follow and trust in The Lord. Always. 

1 Nephi 18:2

Nephi went unto the mountain to pray to The Lord oft to see what He would h e him do to build the ship for he was building it after The Lords design not mans. We need to pattern our life after the lords design not after mans. We need to pray to The Lord often so we know what He would have us do. 

I just don't quite understand how Lamen and Lemuel can deny what they see and hear. They have seen so many angels and here they totally understand what Nephi is saying, but yet they fall. 

In the last verses of ch 17 we see that Nephi has read and studied the scriptures by the way he talks about the people of Egypt. We too need to know and love the scriptures and learn from then and apply them to our lives. 

1 Nephi 17:17

This verse where Lamen and Lemuel complain and murmur to Nephi about how he can't build a ship and how they don't think he was instructed of the Lord reminded me of the time I was MOVED to Utah because the Lord told me to do it. It was such a shocking thing for me to do.  To move like that, I wasn't even planning on it, but as I was praying one night, I remember so distinctly the thought that I should move to Utah!  And it felt so right...and so I did!  When I told people why I was going (The Lord told me so) I got some pretty funny looks!  They didn't think the Lord would instruct me to do that.  But He did and those two years in Utah really did help make me who I am today!

In these verses Nephi teaches us about if we keep the commandments we will prosper in the land. That is a very common theme throughout the entire Book of Mormon! The Lord will take care of us if we keep His commandments!

1 Nephi 17:4-10

During these verses Nephi shows how obedient he is!  The Lord commanded Him to go into the mountains and Nephi did!  The Lord commanded him to build a ship and Nephi didn't even question it....He just asked where he could go to get the supplies.  Nephi has such great faith!  He is such an example for us all.  We all need to just go and do when the Lord asks!!

1 Nephi 17:1-3

 1 And it came to pass that we did again take our journey in the wilderness; and we did travel nearly eastward from that time forth. And we did travel and ^awade through much affliction in the wilderness; and our ^bwomen did bear children in the wilderness.

 2 And so great were the ^ablessings of the Lord upon us, that while we did live upon ^braw ^cmeat in the wilderness, our women did give plenty of suck for their children, and were strong, yea, even like unto the men; and they began to bear their journeyings without murmurings.(I love this!  Most people would look at eating RAW meat as a serious trial.  And even though Nephi does recognize that they did have much affliction--they had GREAT blessings.  That even though they did live on raw meat, their women were blessed with much food for their children ane they were given much strength.  I am 6 months pregnant right now, and I know it would be a hard thing to travel or WALK in the wilderness for who knows how long...so I can tell that Nephi really does recognize the hand of the Lord in their lives!)

 3 And thus we see that the commandments of God must be fulfilled. And if it so be that the children of men keep the commandments of God he doth nourish them, and ^astrengthenthem, and provide means whereby they can accomplish the thing which he has commanded them; wherefore, he did ^bprovide means for us while we did sojourn in the wilderness.(Such a great testimony of Nephi!!!!)

1Nephu 1(

This verse is very interesting to me. In this verse we see that since the Ishmael dies, the daughters are complaining Bout the past present and future.  I think we tend to do this. When something goes wrong around ya we tend to throw things out of proportion.  We just need to take a breath and take care of one thing at a time!

1 Nephi 16: 17-33

Here we read the account of when Nephi broke his bow.  I always found this interesting, because the whole family gets upset about it, but Lamen and Lemuels' bows had already broken...why was it so devastating when Nephi broke his? Was his special? Or was it because his was the last working one?!  Why couldn't they figure out how to fix their bows...Nephi was the only one who figured out a solution to the problem.  I think I do this sometimes...I get very discouraged when one thing does not go the way it should.  And then I think the world is over and there is no hope!  Nephi teaches here that there is always a way!  We just have to find it. We have to figure out the solution!  And the Lord will bless us everytime!

1 Nephi 16:11-16

Here they ahve started on their journey into the wilderness.  They are following the direction of the Liahona.  And it says that the Liahona was leading them to the most fertile parts of the land.  When we follow the Lord He kleads us to the most FERTILE parts of the "land."  He blesses us and our lives are very good!

1 Nephi 16:9-10

The Lord is never done with us/  Once we have completed everything He has asked us to do, He continues to give us more.  We will continue to GROW this way!  =)  But, He will never leave us clueless...He will always give us a way to complete the task He has given us.  Here He has commanded them to go into the wilderness...so He gives them the Liahona!  It will direct them.  He has given us many things as well.  He has given us the scriptures...OUR personal Liahona.  We just need to read them and study them and pay attention to what He is trying to tell us!  The Lord loves us and only wants the best for us!

After Nephi rebukes Lamen and Lemuel, they HUMBLE themselves before the Lord.  This made Nephi raelly happy.  And he had high hopes for his brothers.  I wonder how many times the Lord has had high hopes for me and then I let him down by doing something stupid.  Hopefully NOT too many times.  I hope to keep Him happy with me and that I am doing what I need to do.  I think I will feel this many times as a parent. And I know I haev experienced this as a teacher.  The student who doesn't try, doesn't try and then we have a heart to heart and he/she humbles themsleves and we set goals and we work things out and then I have such high hopes and they do so well for a couple of days, and then they start slipping into their bad habits again and my heart aches!  that must be how Heavenly Father feels.  I don't want his heart to break for me...I will try my best to be the best I can be!!!!

1 Nephi 16

I love here at the beginning there Lamen  and Lemuel were complaining because of what Nephi said. They didn't like if and said he spoke too hard of things. Then Nephi comes back with the wicked take these things to be hard. Ha ha!  Bsm!  Back in your face. 

Is there anything in my life that because of  the hardness of my heart I might perish?!  What can I improve on and how can I make it better. Something to think about. 

Tonight we listened to Elder Chrisstoffersons talk from conference. He spoke about women. He spoke about the Moral force of women. And how important it is for women to be a power for good. How it is our responsibility to raise the children and how the world looks down on the role of motherhood   We need to cherish it and value it. I know I do. I am so blessed to be at home with my boys each day. I am so blessed to be pregnant again and all is going well. I am so blessed to be a mom. Some days it is so  hard, and I am so tired. But my boys are my world and I love them so much. So glad I am here tonteach them and watch them grow. I love it. A

Have ye inquired?

Nephis brothers say they have not inquired of The Lord because He has not made it known unto them. We have to do out part first. We have to ask The Lord before He just gives us the answers. 

Gosh. That would be so hard for Nephi. To have seen what will happen. To know that his people will fall by the hands of his brethrens people and to see what his brethren are like. Especially right here because they did not inquire of The Lord and they are getting angry. Nephi calls it his afflictions. I would have to agree.

I love in the 2nd verse where it says Nephi returned to his brothers fighting. It made me think about the countless times I have returned from church or conference iornskne other spiritual gatherings to come home to reality!  We all have reality. It is our job to make our church reality our only reality!!!

I wonder what else Nephi saw. He said he saw more and was forbidden to write anything else. And I wonder when we will know what all was seen. 

In this part of the chapter it mentions that the great and abominable church will spread through out the church. But it also said that the lords church sill so be spread around the earth. 

1 Nephi 14

At the beginning of this chapter the angel tells Nephi what will happen to those who do not hear ken unto The Lord. After reading those verses I know I need to flow the prophet, reads the scriptures, pray and many more things so I can return to my father in heaven some day.

I seriously can't even handle how much has been shown to Nephi in this chapter. He saw so much!  I love that he shared it with us so that we know what He saw.

Wow. Nephi really saw so much in this vision. He then sees the Bible and how so many plain and precocious things have been taken from it.

In the next part of  ch. 13 it starts talking about how Nephi saw Columbus and how he was divinely guide droning to America. As were the others who fled 

England. This seriously is a promised land. The Lord knew that this is where the gospel would be restored.  It was all part of the plan!!

 7 And I also saw ^agold, and silver, and silks, and scarlets, and fine-twined ^blinen, and all manner of precious clothing; and I saw many harlots.

 8 And the angel spake unto me, saying: Behold the gold, and the silver, and the silks, and the scarlets, and the fine-twined linen, and the precious clothing, and the harlots, are the ^adesires of this great and abominable church.

 9 And also for the ^apraise of the world do they ^bdestroy the saints of God, and bring them down into captivity.(It says here that the desires of the great and abomidable church are all these WORDLY things.  What are my desires?  What ARE my desires?  I desire to be a good person. I desire to serve others.  I desire to be kind and helpful tot hose around me and I desire be the best daughter of my Haevenly Father.  Unfortunately my actions don't always mirror my desires.  I guess that is the goal of this life.  To have our desires aligned with the desires Heavenly Father has for us and then to make sure our actions show those desires!!!  

1 Nephi 13

 1 And it came to pass that the angel spake unto me, saying: Look! And I looked and beheld many nations and kingdoms.

 2 And the angel said unto me: What beholdest thou? And I said: I behold many ^anations and kingdoms.

 3 And he said unto me: These are the nations and kingdoms of the Gentiles.

 4 And it came to pass that I saw among the nations of the^aGentiles the formation of a ^bgreat church.

 5 And the angel said unto me: Behold the formation of a ^achurchwhich is most abominable above all other churches, which ^bslayeththe saints of God, yea, and tortureth them and bindeth them down, and yoketh them with a ^cyoke of iron, and bringeth them down into captivity.

 6 And it came to pass that I beheld this ^agreat and ^babominablechurch; and I saw the ^cdevil that he was the founder of it.(ALL I am saying, is I am thankful to NOT be a member of the GREAT AND ABOMINABLE church!!!!)

1 Nephi 12

 1 And it came to pass that the angel said unto me: Look, and behold thy seed, and also the seed of thy brethren. And I looked and beheld the ^aland of promise; and I beheld multitudes of people, yea, even as it were in number as many as the ^bsand of the sea.

 2 And it came to pass that I beheld multitudes gathered together to battle, one against the other; and I beheld ^awars, and rumors of wars, and great slaughters with the sword among my people.

 3 And it came to pass that I beheld many generations pass away, after the manner of wars and contentions in the land; and I beheld many cities, yea, even that I did not number them.

 4 And it came to pass that I saw a ^amist of ^bdarkness on the face of the land of promise; and I saw lightnings, and I heard thunderings, and earthquakes, and all manner of tumultuous noises; and I saw the earth and the rocks, that they rent; and I saw mountains tumbling into pieces; and I saw the plains of the earth, that they were ^cbroken up; and I saw many cities that they were ^dsunk; and I saw many that they were burned with fire; and I saw many that did tumble to the earth, because of the quaking thereof.

 5 And it came to pass after I saw these things, I saw the ^avapor of darkness, that it passed from off the face of the earth; and behold, I saw multitudes who had not fallen because of the great and terrible judgments of the Lord.

 6 And I saw the heavens open, and the ^aLamb of God descending out of heaven; and he came down and ^bshowed himself unto them.

 7 And I also saw and bear record that the Holy Ghost fell upon^atwelve others; and they were ordained of God, and chosen.

 8 And the angel spake unto me, saying: Behold the twelve disciples of the Lamb, who are chosen to minister unto thy seed.

 9 And he said unto me: Thou rememberest the ^atwelve apostles of the Lamb? Behold they are they who shall ^bjudge the twelve tribes of Israel; wherefore, the twelve ministers of thy seed shall be judged of them; for ye are of the house of Israel.

 10 And these ^atwelve ministers whom thou beholdest shall judge thy seed. And, behold, they are righteous forever; for because of their faith in the Lamb of God their ^bgarments are made white in his blood.

 11 And the angel said unto me: Look! And I looked, and beheld^athree generations pass away in righteousness; and their garments were white even like unto the Lamb of God. And the angel said unto me: These are made white in the blood of the Lamb, because of their faith in him.

 12 And I, Nephi, also saw many of the ^afourth generation who passed away in righteousness.

 13 And it came to pass that I saw the multitudes of the earth gathered together.

 14 And the angel said unto me: Behold thy seed, and also the seed of thy brethren.

 15 And it came to pass that I looked and beheld the people of my seed gathered together in multitudes ^aagainst the seed of my brethren; and they were gathered together to battle.

 16 And the angel spake unto me, saying: Behold the fountain of^afilthy water which thy father saw; yea, even the ^briver of which he spake; and the depths thereof are the depths of ^chell.

 17 And the ^amists of darkness are the temptations of the devil, which ^bblindeth the eyes, and hardeneth the hearts of the children of men, and leadeth them away into ^cbroad roads, that they perish and are lost.

 18 And the large and spacious ^abuilding, which thy father saw, is vain ^bimaginations and the ^cpride of the children of men. And a great and a terrible ^dgulf divideth them; yea, even the word of the^ejustice of the Eternal God, and the Messiah who is the Lamb of God, of whom the Holy Ghost beareth record, from the beginning of the world until this time, and from this time henceforth and forever.

 19 And while the angel spake these words, I beheld and saw that the seed of my brethren did contend against my seed, according to the word of the angel; and because of the pride of my seed, and the^atemptations of the devil, I beheld that the seed of my brethren did ^boverpower the people of my seed.

 20 And it came to pass that I beheld, and saw the people of the seed of my brethren that they had overcome my seed; and they went forth in multitudes upon the face of the land.

 21 And I saw them gathered together in multitudes; and I saw^awars and rumors of wars among them; and in wars and rumors of wars I saw ^bmany generations pass away.

 22 And the angel said unto me: Behold these shall ^adwindle in unbelief.

 23 And it came to pass that I beheld, after they had dwindled in unbelief they became a ^adark, and loathsome, and a ^bfilthy people, full of ^cidleness and all manner of abominations.(That would be so hard, to see your people of my seed to pass away, to be overcome by his brother's seed.  Ugh!  I would hate that.  I think about my two boys.  I would hate to see them fall away into unbelief. I never want that to happen!  EVER!  I must stay strong for them!  I must teach them correct principles and then pray that they will govern themsleves wisely!  I always think about Heaven;y Father and how He must feel when His children are makign the wrong choices and that there is nothing He can do about it.  We have our agency and it is up to us to make the right choices.  I don't want to be one of those taht makes Heavenly Father sad. I will try my hardest to make the RIGHT choice!!!!

1 Nephi

 26 And the angel said unto me again: Look and behold the^acondescension of God!

 27 And I looked and ^abeheld the Redeemer of the world, of whom my father had spoken; and I also beheld the ^bprophet who should prepare the way before him. And the Lamb of God went forth and was ^cbaptized of him; and after he was baptized, I beheld the heavens open, and the Holy Ghost come down out of heaven and abide upon him in the form of a ^ddove.

 28 And I beheld that he went forth ministering unto the people, in^apower and great glory; and the multitudes were gathered together to hear him; and I beheld that they cast him out from among them.

 29 And I also beheld ^atwelve others following him. And it came to pass that they were ^bcarried away in the Spirit from before my face, and I saw them not.

 30 And it came to pass that the angel spake unto me again, saying: Look! And I looked, and I beheld the heavens open again, and I saw ^aangels descending upon the children of men; and they did minister unto them.

 31 And he spake unto me again, saying: Look! And I looked, and I beheld the Lamb of God going forth among the children of men. And I beheld multitudes of people who were ^asick, and who were afflicted with all manner of diseases, and with ^bdevils and ^cunclean spirits; and the angel spake and showed all these things unto me. And they were ^dhealed by the power of the Lamb of God; and the devils and the unclean spirits were cast out.

 32 And it came to pass that the angel spake unto me again, saying: Look! And I looked and beheld the Lamb of God, that he was ^ataken by the people; yea, the Son of the everlasting God was^bjudged of the world; and I saw and bear record.

 33 And I, Nephi, saw that he was ^alifted up upon the cross and^bslain for the sins of the world.

 34 And after he was slain I saw the multitudes of the earth, that they were gathered together to ^afight against the apostles of the Lamb; for thus were the twelve called by the angel of the Lord.

 35 And the multitude of the earth was gathered together; and I beheld that they were in a large and spacious ^abuilding, like unto the building which my father saw. And the angel of the Lord spake unto me again, saying: Behold the world and the wisdom thereof; yea, behold the house of Israel hath gathered together to ^bfightagainst the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

 36 And it came to pass that I saw and bear record, that the great and spacious building was the ^apride of the world; and it ^bfell, and the fall thereof was exceedingly great. And the angel of the Lord spake unto me again, saying: Thus shall be the destruction of all nations, kindreds, tongues, and people, that shall fight against the twelve apostles of the Lamb.Uh!  Nephi saw SOOO much!  can you believe everything that he was able to witness through this vision and speaking with the Spirit of the Lord?  He saw so much.  And at the end he KMPWS whaat the L:arge and Spacious BLDG is, the PRIDE of the WORLD!  Canyou imagine seeing everything that he is seeing....we kinda do !  Every day we see people fighting gainst the apostles of the Lord!  We see the pride of the world figh5t against those thingst that are right.  We need to stand up for what is tight ALL OF THE TIME!!!

 24 And after he had said these words, he said unto me: Look! And I looked, and I beheld the Son of God ^agoing forth among the children of men; and I saw many fall down at his feet and worship him.

 25 And it came to pass that I beheld that the ^arod of iron, which my father had seen, was the ^bword of God, which ^cled to the fountain of ^dliving waters, or to the ^etree of life; which waters are a representation of the love of God; and I also beheld that the tree of life was a representation of the love of God.

The next thing Nephi saw was Jesus teaching the people and the people following Him and worshiping Him.  Because Nephi saw this, he knew that the rod of iron was the WORD of GOD and it LED to the TREE OF LIFE!  As I read this just now. again it came to my mind, that Nephi is seeing things that have not even happened!!  What an honor. What a privilege.  How crazy it is that he is able to see these things  I love how everything has a purpose and there is a plan to all things!   

1 Nephi 11

In 1 Nep 11 Nephi is talking to the SPirit of the Lord and asking for the interpretation of the vision his Father had.  I have always found it interesting that the Spirit doesn't just tell him what everything means, that Nephi has this GRAND vision of a LOT of different things,...

First off...Nephi beholds the TREE! And Nephi asks for the interpretation of the tree...and instead of telling Nephi what it meant, he shows him Mary and how she gave birth to Jesus.

 13 And it came to pass that I looked and beheld the great city of Jerusalem, and also other cities. And I beheld the city of Nazareth; and in the city of ^aNazareth I beheld a ^bvirgin, and she was exceedingly fair and white.

 14 And it came to pass that I saw the ^aheavens open; and an angel came down and stood before me; and he said unto me: Nephi, what beholdest thou?

 15 And I said unto him: A virgin, most beautiful and fair above all other virgins.

 18 And he said unto me: Behold, the ^avirgin whom thou seest is the ^bmother of the Son of God, after the manner of the flesh.

 19 And it came to pass that I beheld that she was carried away in the Spirit; and after she had been carried away in the ^aSpirit for the space of a time the angel spake unto me, saying: Look!

 20 And I looked and beheld the virgin again, bearing a ^achild in her arms.

 21 And the angel said unto me: Behold the ^aLamb of God, yea, even the ^bSon of the Eternal ^cFather! Knowest thou the meaning of the ^dtree which thy father saw? 

               I LOVE here how the Spirit then ASKS Nephi....what is the meaning of the tree?!  Even though Nephi had asked first, he was shown this vision of Mary and of Jesus and then said...what do YOU think is the meaning of the tree....

22 And I answered him, saying: Yea, it is the ^alove of God, which^bsheddeth itself abroad in the hearts of the children of men; wherefore, it is the ^cmost desirable above all things.

 23 And he spake unto me, saying: Yea, and the most ^ajoyous to the soul.

I will end today on these two scriptures...The LOVE of God is the MOST desirable above all things!!  AND the MOST JOYOUS to the soul.  I love these two verses.  They are so true.  I do desire to feel the Love of the Lord everyday!  And I know that when I feel His Love my soul is full of JOY!  Gosh, it feels so good!  Words cannot describe it, the deeling I have when I know the LORD is watching over me and is SHEDDING forth His Love!!  How thankful I am to know that LOVE!  To KNOW that JOY!  How thankful I am that the Lord sends me His love and shows me that He is there watching over me!
